Our company is a rooibos export and marketing company, known for a wide and innovative range of value-added rooibos products, directly linked to our farms and the people working the fields and managing the quality of product we are producing. We are currently seeking a proficient and driven Graphic Designer (DTP) to join our team and play a pivotal role in our ongoing success.

 

Job Description:

The purpose of the Graphic Designer (DTP)  role is to support the marketing team in delivering high-quality design solutions, with a particular focus on packaging and print-ready artwork. This role ensures that all designs are visually engaging, aligned with brand guidelines, and technically accurate for production. By assisting with concept development, artwork adaptation, and final preparation, the Graphic Designer (DTP) contributes to strengthening the brand’s visual identity across packaging, marketing collateral, and other print and digital touchpoints.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 Packaging Design & Development

  • Assist in the creation and development of packaging concepts, from idea generation through to final artwork.
  • Adapt existing designs across various packaging formats, sizes, and dielines.
  • Ensure packaging designs are both functional and visually engaging, reflecting brand identity and product positioning.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and printers to ensure packaging meets technical and quality requirements.

Print-Ready Artwork & DTP

  • Prepare print-ready files according to printer and supplier specifications.
  • Ensure correct use of colour profiles, bleed, crop marks, and dieline specifications.
  • Apply DTP best practices to produce accurate, consistent, and production-ready artwork.
  • Conduct thorough proof-checking to guarantee accuracy before submission.
  • Support quality control by ensuring files are consistent, precise, and error-free.

Marketing Collateral & Brand Support

  • Design and adapt marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, catalogues, and point-of-sale items
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure all designs are in line with brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
  • Provide design support for presentations, proposals, and other internal communications.

Digital Design & Content Creation

  • Assist in the design of digital assets, including social media graphics, website visuals, and email templates.
  • Ensure consistency between print and digital creative output.
  • Contribute to innovative design ideas that enhance the brand’s online presence.

Research & Industry Awareness

  • Stay updated with design trends, packaging innovations, print techniques, and materials.
  • Recommend improvements or new approaches to design and production processes.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor designs and emerging creative approaches.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).

Experience:

  • 2 – 4 years’ design experience, with exposure to packaging and print production.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of dielines, typography, and layout design.
  • Knowledge of print production processes and preparing artwork for suppliers.
  • Attention to detail, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • A portfolio showcasing packaging, DTP, and print design is required
