Health Benefits

  • Urinary tract support — Buchu has long been used as a natural diuretic and antiseptic for the urinary tract, helping to relieve infections, inflammation, and kidney-related complaints.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties — Compounds in buchu, particularly diosphenol and flavonoids, have demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects, making it useful for conditions like arthritis and joint pain.
  • Antioxidant activity — Buchu is rich in antioxidants that help neutralise free radicals, supporting overall cellular health and potentially reducing the risk of chronic disease.
  • Digestive aid — Traditionally used to relieve bloating, indigestion, and stomach cramps, buchu can help soothe the digestive tract and improve gut comfort.
  • Antimicrobial properties — The essential oils in buchu have shown antibacterial and antifungal activity, which may help the body fight off certain infections.
  • Blood sugar regulation — Some research suggests buchu may help support healthy blood glucose levels, making it of interest in the management of diabetes and insulin resistance.
  • Cardiovascular support — Its diuretic properties can help reduce water retention and support healthy blood pressure, contributing to overall heart health.

Excellent
Not just a healthy tea, but a good tasting tea, albiet an aquired taste. I prefer this over the blended varieties. But there's always the option to mix with rooibos if the taste isn't fully to your liking.
