  • Folate and its cousin, folic acid, are vital for developing a healthy baby because they prevent neural tube defects. Since the neural tube develops within the first 28 days of pregnancy, all women of childbearing years should consume folate. Folate prevents specific heart abnormalities, such as cleft palate and cleft lip. It also lowers the risk of developing anaemia, miscarriage, preterm delivery and low birth weight.
  • Ginger helps to reduce symptoms of nausea during pregnancy.
  • Fennel helps with flatulence, which is also a symptom during pregnancy.
  • The leaf and root of dandelion, a typical garden “weed,” provide many essential nutrients: vitamins A and C, iron, calcium, potassium, and many trace elements. The root is said to be a specific remedy for the liver. The leaf is a mild, non-irritating diuretic that can reduce water retention during pregnancy.

Preparation

Infusion Temperature

100°C (212°F)

Steeping Time

5-10 minutes
Steep one teabag in 250ml of boiling water for 5-10 minutes, or to taste. Enjoy with or without milk, honey/sugar or slice of lemon. Best enjoyed at 60° C.
