This winter our family was held hostages by the common cold THREE times! (…sigh…) So I created my own cold kit that worked wonders every time.

I also added some ACC 200 (not included in photos) to M’s drinking water (1/2 tablet for the whole day) to help keep the mucus runny and coming out (getting rid of all those “bugs”). Please read dosage instructions and consult your doctor before use.)

Our bedtime routine: Warm bath, Sterimar in both nostrils followed by Nose Frieda. Two drops of Iliadin in each nostril with the correct amount (see dosage instructions) of Calpol (or Panado).

Tip: Have these Items in your home – It is terrible to sit with a sick baby in the middle of the night and have nothing to soothe or help baby.

Paediatric Iliadin is a super nose drop. It helps clear the nose and has an easy to use nose-dripper. I use it at bedtime to help baby breath and get some much needed (and healing) sleep.

Sterimar for blocked noses helps to clear the nose. One squirt in each nostril followed by the Nose Frieda clears baby’s nose beautifully and helps them breath easy. I do this before bedtime. (This may involve some tears, but remember that baby sleeps so much better with an open nose and needs the rest to heal.)

I love my electronic thermometer from Elektra Health. It is easy to use by simply pressing the on button and holding it against baby’s head to measure fever.

Nose Frieda is the best nostril cleaner on the market!*In my opinion* Mommy sucks the nostril clean which gives you the control over how fast and gentle the sucker sucks. (To the mommies worried about getting any mucus in your mouth – the Nose Frieda is designed to not let the mucus come near your mouth so no worries!)

Baby wipes (I use Pigeon because I like a drier wipe. Any kind is fine.) I have found that a warm wet wipe is gentle on little noses followed by Bepanthen around a tender nose and baby is all set. Bepanthen works wonders to hydrate and care for baby’s nose (and yes it is a bum cream, but can be used for so much more).
